Even with viewership down from last season, the final two episodes of "American Idol" were more than enough to push FOX to a rare overall victory for the week ending Sunday, May 30. Fantasia Barrino's "Idol" victory also helped the network score a commanding win among adults 18-49, as the May sweeps period came to an end and the summer doldrums began.

How strange a week was it? NBC only had two shows in the weekly Top 20, while cellar dweller ABC had four.

Overall, FOX averaged a 7.0 rating/13 share for the week, drawing an average of 11.5 million viewers, better than second place CBS' 6.3/11 and 9.57 million. NBC was well back with a 5.0/9 and 7.25 million, edging ABC's 4.4/8 and 6.38 million. UPN took fifth for the week with a 2.0/3 (2.83 million), better than The WB's 1.6/3 (2.25 million viewers).

FOX also scored a big 4.8 rating in the key demographic, with CBS a distant second with a 2.8 rating. NBC's 2.6 and the 2.3 rating for ABC were close behind. UPN had a 1.2 rating among young adults and The WB trailed with a 0.9 rating.

The "Idol" finale attracted 28.8 million viewers and a 16.4/26, to rank as the week's most watched show. The Tuesday performance episode was No. 2 with a 15.0/25. FOX also scored with the finales of "24" (7.3/11, 13th) and "The Swan" (7.1/11, 15th).

The top show on CBS was Monday's "CSI: Miami," which did a 13.7/22 for No. 3, where it was closely followed by Monday entries "Everybody Loves Raymond" (11.8/18, 4th), "Two and a Half Men" (11.7/18, 5th), "Still Standing" (7.8/13, 9th) and "Yes, Dear" (6.7/12, 17th).

Thursday night yielded "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" at No. 6 with 10.0/17 and "Without a Trace" at No. 8 with an 8.6/15. Tuesday was good for "Navy NCIS" and the second half of "Reversible Errors," which tied for No. 11 with a 7.4/12. CBS also got Top 20 performances out of the Academy of Country Music Awards (7.2/12, 14th) and "60 Minutes" (6.4/14, 20th).

NBC's only two listworthy entries were Wednesday's "Law & Order" (8.7/14, 7th) and Sunday's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" (6.5/12, 18th).

ABC was paced by a pair of installments of "Super Millionaire," with the most popular ranking at No. 10 with a 7.6/12 and the second doing a 6.8/11 for No. 16. "Primetime Thursday" did a 6.5/11 for No. 18, while "According to Jim" as No. 20 with a 6.4/10.

The highest rated show on UPN was "WWE Smackdown!," which rose to No. 65 with a 2.9/5, while "7th Heaven" led The WB with a 2.7/5 for No. 69.
